What We Do
We provide funding for a multitude of children's programs and events, all year round!
Adult programming is also often funded in part or fully by the Friends, as well as various other events.
Friends offer funding towards new and replacement books and materials, as well as electronics.
Almost all funding for the gardening and landscaping around the building is provided by the Friends.
Children's Programming
We provide funding for a multitude of children's programs. Our biggest endeavor every year is the Summer Reading Program for children Pre-6th grade which runs June and July with a unique program every week. In addition to Summer Reading, we also support weekly preschool story times, special event story times, and other miscellaneous programs like 1,000 books before kindergarten which promotes early childhood literacy.
Adult's Programming
Adult programming in the library is also often funded in part or in whole by the Friends. Yearly we provide support for the Winter Reading Program which runs month long January, February and March. In addition to this, we also bring in authors throughout the year, as well as arts, cultural, and historical presenters.
New Material and Equipment
In addition to programming, the Friends also support the library by providing new and replacement materials and equipment. This includes print books for all ages, large print books, audiobooks, dvd's, and music as well as tablet devices, computers, computer components (keyboards, mouses, cords, etc.), and other electronics.
Gardening and Landscaping
We are also the primary source of funding for the gardening and landscaping of the library itself. After the long and arduous task of replacing the stone on the entire exterior of the building, the process of replacing the gardening has been an adventure. Transferring the plants, as well as upkeep and maintenance, are provided by funding through the Friends.
